Debra McDowell, LMSWDebra McDowell received her BA from Wichita State University, majoring in social work and her MSW from the University of Michigan with an emphasis on individual counseling. She is a licensed master’s level social worker in Iowa. Deb has worked in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, directed a community support program for chronically mental ill clients, and worked in the hospice setting.
Deb is excited to practice Christian counseling through which her clinical counseling skills are integrated with her faith in Jesus Christ. C.S Lewis wrote: “You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.” One’s spiritual life and growth is fundamental in addressing our emotional, relationship or other mental health needs. Sacred Scripture is the unerring Word of God and as such the Bible is a foundational tool on the path of healing and restoration.
To see Jesus in the face of every person that sits across from her is the personal philosophy from which Deb begins the joint work towards mental health and happiness.
